Welcome to my music experiment room

These experiments are copyright, please give them credit where credit is due. if you want to use anything in here, please ask me at cyrixlord @ this website's name.  its my music!

These are snippets and themes, ideas of some songs that i'd like to share with you all.  They're usually digital recordings of me just freehanding and are very rough.  I hope you like them.   If you have any comments about them or suggestions, please let me know, especially if you'd like me to focus on a particular experiment a bit more.  Your suggestions may just lead me to a new music idea!

The experiments:

Experiment 1: 072404 : The Sax in the Rain

Take 01

Take 02

Pakmei suggested a trumpet instead of a sax, because a sax in the rain would get wet and clogged up apparently :)

Take 03

Experiment 2: 072504: Silly ditty on a real tinwhisle to prove to pakmei that they're better than recorders

Take 01

Experiment 3: 082404: I was screwing around with blues, and inadvertantly came up with a song idea in G, although it plays well on a Eb tinwhistle as well.  Its an interesting idea, but will need refinement and work.  I wanted to try it out on a tinwhistle, but its too late in the night and I'm sure the neighbours would complain :)

Take 01

Experiment 4: 031505: cyrix_china.mp3. I wanted to laern how to use samples and match the tempo to a beat, as well as experiment with drum kits. I haven't done either for a long while.

Take 01

Experiment 5: 031505: cyrix_fourths.mp3. It is my first fun song. i practiced using event modulation to distort the instrument wave patterns to make unique sounds 'live' but reproducable. its 'synthpoppy' (ambient techno was my aim). suggestions were to make the tempo faster, make the snare less loud. beatbreak also.  Its called 'fourths' because it was started with just 4 chords. I just couldnt stop!
