Ambassor Imperium Project: 29 Sept 2003 : DAY 2
The Ambassor Imperium is the design concept for an ambassor trench coat that can be made into a leather or heavy wool trench coat. To prove that the design is suited for both roles, I have elected to make both a leather and wool version of this coat at the same time. I am working on the wool version now.
here is the liner, ratty looking and
all, with the leading edges of the trench coat draping to
the floor. The breast pocket is hanging out and you can see the 'butt pads'
of fleece covering my hind quarters. I didnt want the trenchcoat fleece to just
end at my hip, i wanted them to extend downward to give the jacket more flow.
back view : more detail of how the fleece forms two 'tails'. normally the
fleece would stop at the line, but I felt that it was to abrupt of an
ending, and would make the coat look a bit odd. this modification has
complicated the design of an otherwise simple coat to make. I wanted to
add fleece to the liner, though to make it a heavy coat. I will attach
tuxedo liner which i think will add a nice touch to this trench coat. this is what the fleece looks like. soft and warm! I was able to
serger the fleece together. I didnt really like working with it too
well and had to 'guestimate' a lot of the sizes since the fleece stretched and
moved while being worked on. I'd probably work with it again,
though. Its very forgiving, as is the thick wool I'm using. this is a nice shot of what my trench coat looks like with all of the parts
combined: the duster, shell, and fleece liner.
